Break Fast


What is the one meal that we always skip over? The one that we grab something that is bad for us and run out the door? Breakfast, it is the least healthy meal for many people. People wake up at the last minute, jump in the shower and pick up a donut on the way to work. Did you know, that breakfast used to be one of the bigger meals of the day? People would eat a huge meal for breakfast like we would dinner today. It really is the most important meal of the day. If you sleep eight hours a night, then you haven't ate anything for eight hours. This is the longest period of the day that you will go without eating anything.

Your mind is not sharp because you just woke up, haven't had your morning brew yet. But could it be because you aren't eating right? Could it be your diet that is causing you to break down in the day?

The short answer is, YES. Sorry for the caps, but I needed to get my point across. Your breakfast will affect your whole day. Especially if you are one of these people who eat a fast food lunch. That won't get you anywhere but down the drain.

So, what do you do? It isn't as hard as you may think. Here are some quick and easy breakfast suggestions.

Some cereals aren't bad for you. Take Grape Nuts for example. This cereal is good for you and tastes great. You can eat this hot or cold. If you want it hot, just nuke it in the microwave for a bit. Throw in some banana slices and you will have a breakfast that you will love. Eating a mini meal for breakfast is a great thing to do also. Eat some eggs, fruit, and some grains. The key thing to do is keep it in moderation. There is no reason to eat a whole pig for breakfast. Instead, just go with your diet plans.

Fruit salad is great for breakfast. I know that might sound a bit weird to some, but I don't find it weird at all. Fruit is great for breakfast. Buy whatever is in season or on sale at your local supermarket. You will find that you really enjoy breakfast when it is a sweet and healthy fruit salad.

You can always go for the leftovers from last night's dinner. Why not eat up those things before they go bad? Just make sure not to eat too much of them. I love eating things for last night's meal for breakfast. I might eat a little bit of meat and veggies. Wash it down with some fruit juice. It is a great meal. Things to stay away from. I could go on forever with this list. Any type of pop tart like thing. These things are junk. Not only do they taste like cardboard, but they are bad for you. I don't know why these are so popular. I guess because they are sweet. Who knows.

Donuts. Do I really need to tell you why? These are deep fried and they usually come with tons of sugary stuff on them. Definately not something that should be eaten for breakfast. This might catch you off guard, but I would avoid coffee. Caffeine gives you a false sense of energy. This isn't something you want to start your day with. After the caffeine wears off, you will feel it. You will feel like you are about to fall back asleep.

Stay away from anything deep fried. That means hash browns and anything else that might be deep fried. This is not only a ton of fat that you don't need, but it will wear you out in no time. Stay away from high fat foods. I would avoid bacon as well. It goes back to avoiding high fat foods. There is no need to do yourself in with the first meal of the day.

Stay away from candy, or anything that is too sweet. Sugar won't help you out in the morning. All it will do is make you feel like shit when the energy wears off. This goes for sodas as well. Don't drink these for breakfast.

Don't drink alcohol for breakfast. You would be surprised at how many people actually do this. Most of them are drunks, but every now and then they want to finish off that bottle of wine before it goes bad. This is not only stupid, but a waste of calories. Don't drink alcohol for breakfast.

There you have things to enjoy and avoid for breakfast. You should keep in mind that you can make a good breakfast in as much time as it takes to wait in line at a drive through for fast food. You just need to know what you want to eat ahead of time.
