People Who Have Done Great at Older Ages

Who says that older people cannot do great things possible? Just because you are past the age of 40 or 60 does not mean you can no longer achieve something great that would contribute to the betterment of the world. For one, old age should be a privilege that every aging person should enjoy. Old age is not a restriction. It is a new chance of making our lives more productive so the world will remember us.

Here are some of the people who did not let old age hinder them from doing something worthwhile.

Andre Marie Ampere, a French physicist, discovered the rules relating magnetic fields and electric currents at the age of 45.

Richard Daniel Bass reached the summit of Mount Everest at age 55.

Ella T. Grasso became the first woman to become an American governor on her own, not as the wife of a previous incumbent at the age of 55.

Playwright and essayist George Bernard Shaw completed a play, "Heartbreak House," regarded by some as his masterpiece at the age of 60.

At age 60, Italian sculptor, painter, playwright, draftsman and architect Gian Lorenzo Bernini began designing churches.

Benjamin Franklin helped draft the Declaration of Independence at the age of 70.

Japanese ukiyoe painter Katsushika Hokusai created "Painting Hundred Views of Mount Fuji" and prepared the release of the 15th and final volume of his "Ten Thousand Sketches" at the age of 75.

At age 80, American writer and physician Oliver Wendell Holmes published "Over the Teacups," which displayed his characteristic vitality and wit.

At age 90, Chagall became the first living artist to be exhibited at the Louvre museum.

Alice Porlock of Great Britain published her first book, Portrait of My Victorian Youth, when she was 102 years old.
