But it is always safe to comment about how long the line is taking, or make a joke about it. If she responds in kind, you will have plenty of time to talk further as you wait.

If you like to read, bookstores are a good place to meet women who probably share your interests. Focus on women who are browsing in the areas that interest you. Ask if she thinks the item you are considering is attractive, or if she would be happy to receive it as a gift. Let her know that you are buying it for your mother or sister, so she doesn't think you're married.

The bottom line is that if you go to a bar to meet women, you're likelier to meet women who are defensive - or heavy drinkers. If you go to meet women in locations where you have interests, you're more likely to meet a woman who already shares those interests.
